Happy St. Patrick's Day

It all started last week. Colton came home from preschool and said. "Mom you know that day that you have to wear green? Well I want to catch me a “leper” so I can take it to class for show and tell." So for the past week that is all he has been talking about. How he is going to build his leprechaun trap. First he wanted to hang a rope from the ceiling with some candy tied to the end of it. I was able to convince him that I found some leprechaun trap instructions on the internet and all we needed was a box, a stick and some candy. So the week went on and finally it was St. Patrick’s Day Eve. After dinner Colton made me hook Polly up to her leash and take him for a walk around the block to see if any leprechauns were out and about yet. Polly was supposed to be our leprechaun sniffing dog. When we got home we set out to make our trap.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

Here is a video

ST PATRICK'S DAY MORNING
I went in Coltons room that morning to wake him up. He jumped out of bed and ran into the kitchen. He was so excited to see if his trap had worked. This is what he found.

Foot prints

That sneaky little leprechaun had come during the night and ate all the candy and left Colton a new Transformer kite. He was so excited until he lifted up the box and that leprechaun wasn't inside. He through the biggest fit I have ever seen. He refused to go to school, he wouldn't get dressed. He ran in his room and sat on his bed and told me he was not going to school until he could make a better trap and catch a leprechaun to take for show and tell. Well that backfired??? I finally got him to school that morning (I have no idea how, some act of angles or something). Carried him up to the door of his school and told him to have a good day. I turned around walked back to my car and took a deep breath and said a little pray thanking Heavenly Father that I didn't have to pick him up for 3 more hours.:) By the time he got home that day he had cooled off and was ready to go fly his new kite. What a relief.

On the way home from flying his new kit he sang me a song.

  2. So cute. I love how imaginative they are at that age. I think I would have been mad too if the Leprachan got away. Would you care if I put you on my side bar??
