Coltons First Day of First Grade
I admit I am posting this a few weeks after the fact but I still can't believe that I have a 1st grader. He is getting so big right before my eyes. It seems like yesterday that he was just a little baby. Time has just gone by so fast it makes me want to savor every minute I have with my kids before they are all grown up and gone.

He was sooooo excited to go to school his first day that it was hard for me to be sad about it. Thanks Colton for making it easy for me. :) Sweet Boy
Emma just had to get in the picture. She is like Coltons shadow wanting to do everything that she sees her big brother do. Typical little sister. She loves him to death.

Coltons classroom and his desk and tote tray. Look at the grin on that face.
And then it was time for me to leave him there.

Wow It Has Been A While

Wow It Has Been A While

I thought I better get on here and tell my little guy happy late BIRTHDAY. I have been such a slacker this summer. But I am going to do better. So anyway. With more posts in the near future.

HAPPY (LATE) BIRTHDAY COLTON

We love you.

He had a great birthday. He got to go to the dinosaur musium again and pick a movie to go to with some of his cousins. He chose Avatar The Last Air Bender and now he thinks he IS an air bender. He had an awesome birthday party with all his cousins and some friends. Here are some pictures.

This is Colton playing with some of this birthday presents. His Avatar staff. (one of the favorites)

Playing with his friends and cousins, just having a good time.

And this is my favorite. His new riding gear. He wouldn't take it off. He even wears it to ride his little peddle bike. He has been begging his daddy to take him out on the dirt bike so he can try out his new gear. He also told us he wants his own dirt bike so he can race it. I think Tyler and Grandpa Elkington would be just fine with that. I think it might be kinda fun to watch myself. :)

Happy Birthday My Sweet Little Dare Devil

Dandelions
Today I drove to the school to pick Colton up. I got out of the car and stood on the grass in the front of the school waiting for the kids to start coming out of the kindergarten doors. I had just been standing there for a few minutes when I saw the doors open and the kids started running out to meet their parents. I spotted Colton trudging toward me with his head down looking kinda sad. He finally got to me and I asked him what was wrong and why he looked so sad. He slowly looked up at at me and he was grinning from ear to ear. He whipped out a dandelion from behind his back and said, "Here mom I got this just for you" My heart melted. I took the "flower" and gave him a big hug and kiss and told him how much I loved it. We started walking back to the car together and he looks up and says to me.
Well thats what spring is all about ya know
I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything.

Colton

LITTLE BOYS

Colton does some of the funniest things. He is just as funny as he is naughty and he can be pretty naughty. The cute little monkey keeps a smile on my face. (Most of the time)

I was going through my pictures getting them all organized and found some that I had forgotten about.

His very first Christmas

One of many fishing trips he has taken with us. He has always loved going to the mountains.

His very first fish. He caught it all by himself at the Green River. It suprised all of us. I remember haveing to grab the pole out of his hands before it launched him into the river. Haaa what a good day. Dad is very proud of this picture.

First broken leg. Hopfully his last.

First burned hand on the stove. Then he decided to suck on a red colored pencil and scare the crap out of me. I though it was blood when he came in the room.

He has always liked to help is daddy do work. He carried that little plastic sheep around with him the whole day. I guess it was helping him do is jobs.

He came out in his cowboy boots to help dad mow and edge the lawn. How cute is that.

First time trying out moms mascara. He wasn't crying because he got cought, he was crying because it got in his eye and was stinging.

First girlfriend at preschool. He had his arm around her during snack time. His teacher thought is was so cute she hurried and got her camera so she could send me a picture.

For all of you who don't know. Colton "IS" Tommy the Red Power Ranger. His school and church papers come home with Tommy written at the top of them. He even told his swim teacher his name was Tommy. I had to go tell the teacher after class what his real name was because they didn't have a Tommy registered on the roll.

The first day of his second set of swim lessons. He was so proud of his new goggles because he didn't have to were the snorkle goggles that covered his nose anymore.

Chalk drawings of some blue monkeys hanging from vines.

A white spider shooting a web

And this is my most recent and favorite picture.

Last Sunday night I was trying to get Colton in bed early because I new the next morning he had to get up and go to swim lessons early. So I got him bathed and in his PJs and in bed by 8:30. It was so nice. Well at about 9:45 I walked down the hall to the kitchen to get a drink of water and noticed from under the crack in his door I could see that the light was on. I got a little upset and was just getting ready to storm in his room and ask why he was still up playing when I heard him talking to himself. I stopped and didn't go in yet. I went and got Tyler and we both listened outside his door to what he was saying. This is what we heard.

"And they walked up the hill to Bethlehem"

Then silence

The sound of pages tuning.

Then more talking that was to low to understand.

Tyler and I both looked at each other and remembered a few weeks ago Colton had asked us if he could have his own set of scriptures. Tyler had gone down stairs and found his old black set of scriptures from when he was in middle school and gave them to Colton. Then we both kinda forgot about it.

We decided it was time to open his door. He was sitting on his bed with his set of scriptures reading to him self.

How do you get mad at that.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

It all started last week. Colton came home from preschool and said. "Mom you know that day that you have to wear green? Well I want to catch me a “leper” so I can take it to class for show and tell." So for the past week that is all he has been talking about. How he is going to build his leprechaun trap. First he wanted to hang a rope from the ceiling with some candy tied to the end of it. I was able to convince him that I found some leprechaun trap instructions on the internet and all we needed was a box, a stick and some candy. So the week went on and finally it was St. Patrick’s Day Eve. After dinner Colton made me hook Polly up to her leash and take him for a walk around the block to see if any leprechauns were out and about yet. Polly was supposed to be our leprechaun sniffing dog. When we got home we set out to make our trap.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

Here is a video

ST PATRICK'S DAY MORNING
I went in Coltons room that morning to wake him up. He jumped out of bed and ran into the kitchen. He was so excited to see if his trap had worked. This is what he found.

Foot prints

That sneaky little leprechaun had come during the night and ate all the candy and left Colton a new Transformer kite. He was so excited until he lifted up the box and that leprechaun wasn't inside. He through the biggest fit I have ever seen. He refused to go to school, he wouldn't get dressed. He ran in his room and sat on his bed and told me he was not going to school until he could make a better trap and catch a leprechaun to take for show and tell. Well that backfired??? I finally got him to school that morning (I have no idea how, some act of angles or something). Carried him up to the door of his school and told him to have a good day. I turned around walked back to my car and took a deep breath and said a little pray thanking Heavenly Father that I didn't have to pick him up for 3 more hours.:) By the time he got home that day he had cooled off and was ready to go fly his new kite. What a relief.

On the way home from flying his new kit he sang me a song.

Swim Lessons

It was Colton’s first day of swim lessons. He is petrified of getting his head in the water, but he did pretty well. He got so nervous that when the teacher started calling roll he had to get out of the water to come and ask me what his name was. All I could do was laugh. Today’s lesson was to learn how to blow bubbles in the water and dunk their heads all the way under. By the time class was out Colton’s hair was still dry but he had put his head in all the way up to his nose. He was so proud of himself. What a nut.
